Briefing Weekend
After our last meet up, we all came together, to get to know
each other and finalise our plans for our trip to Slovakia. On arrival, we were
given our INTOPS uniform, which we decided on during our last meeting.
Today, we planned the activities that we are going to do whilst
away and took the opportunity to ask any questions about the trip. We also
decided on our mascot, who is a Gloucester Old Spot pig called Petra. Afterwards,
we played some team games and completed a quiz. As part of the quiz, we had to
climb up Bubbs Hill and walk around the main campsite. One of the challenges
was to find a way of spelling out Slovakia in the most creative way. Here are
our attempts.
Working in patrols, we have cooked meals, cleaned up and
competed. In preparation for our trip, we have learnt some useful Slovakian
phrases such as,
- "Ahoj" means "Hello"
- "Ako sa voláte?" means "What is your name?"
- "Voláme sa..." means "My name is..."
- "Hej" means "Yes"
- "Nie" means "No"
- "Vd'aka" means "Thanks"
One of our county commissioner, Karen, visited us and we took the opportunity
to thank her for all the support we have received.
We then ate sweet and sour chicken which we helped to cook and the cheesecake we had all made earlier.
After this meet up, we feel that we are fully prepared for
our trip and we are all very excited for the 22nd of July when we
set off!
